Week of setbacks!

Sunday, August 11, 2019

This week has not been good for me with regard to my journey to get healthy. I have been eating out with my boyfriend most days this last week. I have been taking my lunch but it hasn't been the best options either due to poor planning.

This new job is throwing me off my game quite a bit. The only time I get to see my boyfriend now is on my way home from work stopping to have dinner with him. He has limited time so it's usually some fast food place close to his job. He isn't into losing weight like I am even though his doctor has told him he needs to do so. Anyway....I have not found the balance and gotten a plan in place yet with my new schedule. I have to work around new commute times, working hours, an earlier bedtime, and earlier wake up time. To make it harder, starting in another week I am throwing a college course in the mix which means finding time for doing homework. I haven't even figured out where to put in time for my exercise yet. It is really hard to manage it all especially when my boyfriend works a completely different schedule and I am not getting the help I need from others in the house.

This next week will be a bit different. The boyfriend is taking his annual vacation/camping trip with his kids so I will basically be home alone this week. The decision hasn't been made yet if he is taking the dog (Lucy) this year. One of the kids is staying here due to JROTC and her job. I will not be seeing her though because she works until midnight and I will have to be up and gone before she even gets up in the morning for her stuff.

If he leaves Lucy I will have to come home as soon as possible to let her outside. On days I go straight to work and then straight home I am gone 11 to 12 hours. Traffic is a major headache for me. It takes an hour to get to work and longer usually to get home in the evening. I work 8 hours with a 1 hour lunch. I hate leaving Lucy alone that long. I also don't have much time between getting home and going to bed, so she isn't getting much attention.

I hope to have a better plan in place for the next week by end of the day. With all the camping gear and food pile in my kitchen and living room, it is a bit difficult to meal prep for the week, so I need to plan out some meals I can make when I get home at night and take the leftovers for lunch the next day. Or maybe some chicken or other meat that can pull double duty for easy meals more than once. I hope to use the time I was eating dinner with the boyfriend as time for my exercise, but it will vary depending on if Lucy goes camping or stays home.

Lots to do today, so I need to get on it. I have my stuff to do and I am supervising the kids as they start to clean the bus and pack for their trip. They leave tomorrow and will be gone a full week.

Doris beat me to the suggestion to get home and walk the dog. Take heart that some research shows that people who have dogs to walk get more exercise consistently than the rest of us. Maybe you and your boyfriend could walk after picking up the fast food close to his job?

That is crazy schedule. The commute time would be enough to make me insane. I try to walk 20 minutes during my lunch. I usually go outside if weather good, if bad it is the basement where 13 laps makes a mile. When you get home if you can take the dog for a walk. that is good for both of you. Even if only 15 minutes.
    Good Luck!

Busy times but if you can try to make yourself more of a priority it might help - taking the time to prep food will save you time later on and allow you to eat healthier, maybe a picnic dinner instead of eating out every night, going for a walk before you eat dinner? There are ways to manage busyness and stay healthy - try different things til you find what works for you!

You have alot on your plate. Once the others are gone on the trip take some time out to breathe and make a more permanent plan.

You are busy. Good Luck with figuring out a schedule that works for you. How about allocating half of your lunch hour for a walk?
