The wanderer is back in Melbourne

In late July I returned to NZ via Auckland and Hastings for a bowls tournament that our team of 4 had qualified for back in March. Unfortunately we were unable to reproduce the good form which got us there , so did not qualify for the playoffs for the NZ title. So back to Melbourne again and today I'm just back from a 2 week trip to Perth and Western Australia. From Perth airport I hired a car and travelled south to Bussleton to visit friends Tai and Tania. We were joined there by Huia, another friend from Invercargill and enjoyed a time of great companionship and laughter. Then back to Perth to pick up my sister Laurelle from Brisbane. We travelled east to her son's place at Baker's Hill. I gave them my tickets to the rugby test between the All Blacks and the Wallabies (pity the result didn't go our way) while I travelled 550km further east to Kalgoorlie and stayed with my nephew Selwyn, his wife Wikitoria, and their whanau (family). This is gold country and very impressive in terms of size and scale. Then back to Baker's Hill, Perth and Melbourne. Today I met up with my sister again and her daughter Lauren and we travelled north to the Yarrah valley, a beautiful area, and sampled great chocolate, wine, food and beer. Obviously there is a price to pay for all this indulgence but I will work on that later. Short term pleasure - long term pain, but well worth it! Back to NZ and Invercargill in 4 weeks. Starting to feel a little homesick after all this travel.
