Finding a new normal

Tuesday, September 10, 2019

I will be so glad when Thursday is over and all the police reports, meetings with the prosecutor and all court proceedings will be a thing of our past. I am struggling on my victim statement as it was written weeks ago before our August 1 sentencing. Because he violated his bond he had 6 more weeks in jail and sentencing postponed. So much time has passed and his time in jail has been served. Do I end it with a positive message that we did go face to face with him and he admitted to what he did to her and he did apologize. Or is the last thing I say how I feel humiliation that every detail was published and I failed in protecting my daughter in so many ways. I still have tomorrow to decide. I have one chance to be heard and my co-victim statement read. I Was already told to be prepared that the same reporter may be in the courtroom for a follow up

Talk about the important things that have happened and how you and your daughter feel about what happened. And end with something about how you and your daughter will move forward as survivors at the end of this long process.
    Good luck
