Long time since I blogged, but I'd like to document where I am right now.... even if it's just for me.
In May, my PC found a mass in my pelvic area. After some testing and a trip to the OBGYN, it was decided that I needed to have surgery to remove the mass. Doctor was confident that it was a harmless cyst. The cyst was large enough that they had to do open surgery. Basically I had a C-section to remove it. Surgery was right before my 40th bday, so I spend my bday on the couch watching Hallmark Christmas movies instead of at the lake with friends.. ( no bitterness there!

) NOT TO SAY anything bad about Hallmark Christmas movies... I LOVE them... that's just not how I wanted to celebrate.
7/16 - Two weeks later at my post op appt, my OBGYN said the cyst was actually more of a tumor. He was referring me to an oncologist for follow up. Thankfully I didn't have to wait long for that appt.
7/25 Oncologist was VERY nice and took his time explaining everything. He asked if we were still trying to have kids, because that would make a difference in his treatment. I told him no, so he recommended a partial hysterotomy, keeping just the one ovary in order to avoid going into a forced menopause.
8/28 - Second Summer Surgery done robotically. Much less invasive surgery, just have 5 small stab wounds on my stomach rather than 1 massive cut. My poor stomach... ugh. Anyway... Surgery went well. I have my follow up next week to HOPEFULLY hear that nothing was cancerous.
In the mean time, I'm not in a good place mentally. I don't know how to describe it really, but I feel bitter and empty. I did make an appt with a counselor, that's also next week. Hopefully we connect well and we can work on getting me back to feeling myself.
Basically it was a dumb summer. I KNOW I should be thankful the tumor was found and taken out..and I'll get there eventually. Someday I'll be thankful for this. But it's not today.
I've also taken a big step to get back on track with my eating. I signed up for a six week coaching session to really work on my eating. My coach do meal plans and grocery lists for me. It starts next week and I have the menu.. it's VERY different. LOL This first week is concentrating on LOTS of veggies. Some of it looks super questionable, but I'm going to go for it and trust.
As far as exercise... obviously I'm not running with the surgeries. I'm 2 weeks post op now, so I need to get back to going on walks every day. I also found some "light" postpartum ab exercises that I'm going to do. I think it's a good start.
Summer sucked... I'm gonna make it a great fall!!!
