Take Aways From Healthywage Competition
Saturday, September 14, 2019
Ok so here are the take aways myself and my team have learned from our recent competition. We ended up 29th, but really should have been so much higher out of 66 teams. We stood no chance of winning it, let me just say that and the teams that tied were absolutely amazing! So I have struggled for a long time to get down to 175. It seemed as though a wall was blocking me from ever seeing it, though I could get to 176 many times. I fought hard, but not early enough to help me reach my personal goals. In the end I was one half of a pound from reaching my alternate goal weight of 169. Had I tried that hard early on, I would have made it. Soooooo…...I am now entered in another jackpot challenge and will be down to 163 by early November. I CAN do this and I WILL.
So my teammates have also learned. One did well early on and stalled and the other really never seemed to get serious, though she said she wanted to be lol. They both learned that they eat really poorly and are tempted by unhealthy choices regularly and do not resist as they say they want to. So it has made them take an honest look at what they eat and why. Another huge win in my eyes.
Our fourth team member really struggled though she was doing everything she could to lose weight. She watched her calories carefully. She went to her doctor and begged for help. She was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and was put on thyroid medicine. It would take effect after the competition was complete.
Out only male competitor tore it up and reached 11% weight loss. He left and immediately began to eat. In the first weekend he gained back 8 pounds. His motive was just to win and not to keep it off, I have no doubt he will put his weight back on and then some. Only time will tell.
So well worth the competition. Disappointing yes, but I knew it would be valuable and it was. So keep cheering me on. I have a plan and a little wisdom this time.
