Some of the things I've sewn over the past few months - for those who have asked

Tuesday, October 08, 2019

In no particular order here are some of the things I have sewn over the past few months. Several of you have expressed interest and I have kind of put it off. I find sewing quite therapeutic and zippered pouches especially so. Go figure!

This was made at the recent sewing/quilting retreat I went to. The material and supplies were provided in our welcoming loot bag.

beach bags that were made and sent to my nieces in Australia

just a day playing with fabric

a panel quilt I made for mom which she promptly sold for $100. Aarrrgggh

made two of these for my nieces as a "welcome to Canada" gift". They loved them.

my aunt and I share a love of the pansy flower. She is like a mother to me so I surprised her with this

Some random pouches

I hope you enjoy - it is really something I do to relax. My friends say I should start selling them but I'm not that confident.

Very beautiful work!!! I too think you could easily sell them. Your choice combinations of colors and patterns are very pretty, tasteful and interesting. I like them better than most that are sold by Vera Bradley these days. You could make a website and start that way.

So sorry to see Louisa passed away. I just love dogs and I am so sad for you.

    Hugs,

The bags you sew look great ~ yes I would buy one or two. I respect the time and art people who can sew or knit and love seeing the items created.
    Thank you for sharing

Lovely! Yes, you should try to sell these. I hope the ones you gifted know how much effort these take. Being a fellow crafter, I know! Keep Sewing! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I love your bags and pouches. They are really awesome! I have attempted to sew, actually made a couple of small quilts with my sister but I have to guess our 1/4 inch seams were a bit scant because they fell apart a couple of months later. haha. I have mine carefully folded away until I can get up the gumption to take it apart so I can sew it back up.

I think you are a very generous gifter; no need to sell if you're not comfortable. That said, you could always donate to a favorite cause that's having a Silent Auction if you didn't have a recipient in mind.

As for that beautiful panel quilt... well, remind yourself that a gift is just that. What happens after isn't your worry. I'm sure that more than a few of my knitted gift have found their end on the inside of a hot dryer. That's OK, I learned those folks are not knit-worthy.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful work. You have such an eye for detail AND functionality. Your bright and colorful fabric choices make me smile. emoticon

Those are so great! If you'd prefer to keep making them as gifts just because that's your preference, then do that. If you are worried about them not being high enough quality, I'd say all these comments should set your mind at ease. I've been looking everywhere for a bag with specific features, and can't find one anywhere. I only wish I had your skill so I could make one myself.

Susan, these are beautiful and I agree that you have plenty of talent to sell these. The quilt you made for mom is so pretty! I just love it. It's good therapy and I think I need to pick up some easy quilting. It is the thing now. I have some friends in TX where we winter that do detailed quilting and yours looks like some of theirs. Thought has gone into each and every one of the projects.

I love sewing quilts too! I have made them for each family member. I would be livid if they sold them. You are a better person than I! Beautiful items!

I agree with your friends! The first thing I thought when I saw the photos was that these look professionally made and saleable. Your mother's sale of that gorgeous quilt is proof (though it seems she made a faux pas: you wanted her to have it, and it was certainly worth more--oops).

These are all just so stylish and beautiful. They remind me of a little Vera Bradley pouch my sister gave me many years ago that I love and carry everywhere in my handbag to hold lipstick and brush. After all these years, it's as pretty as ever and shows no signs of wear and tear. My favorites among the ones you've posted here are the Welcome to Canada moose pouches and that black and yellow one at the bottom--tres chic!!

I love your handi work. I purchased material to make a quilt for our bed probably 10 or 15 years ago. I still haven't started on it. Why your mom sold that quilt you made her I don't understand. Have a great day.. I also love the pictures of your dogs.
