Need support- Cateract eye surgery

Tuesday, October 08, 2019

Yesterday I went to the eye doctor to see what they could do for a cateract in my right eye. Find out that I have cateracts in both eyes. They are going to replace the lens in my eye which means cutting. I'm scared about it and very nervous. My first surgery is November 5th and about two weeks later they do my left eye.
Has anyone had this done? How long is recovery? Do I need to be out of work? I work in a deli making sandwiches.
I think I just need my Spark friends support and tell me everything will be fine.
It will be fine..right?

A few of my friends have had the surgery done and they did great, no problems and the ones who were wearing glasses didn't need them after the cataracts were removed. I believe you will do well and be happy with the results emoticon

My mom just had one eye done. She said there was no pain. Her vision was blurry for a few days afterward but that cleared with time.

I had surgery for cataracts in both eyes in 2017. I was also nervous ahead of time. It was not bad at all. Other than eye drops that you will need, the entire procedure is fine. Good luck.

The surgery is pretty simple and very little down time, everyone is different, but as long as your eyes are healthy you should do great and your vision should improve. If you are still nervous do your own research and arm yourself with knowledge.

You can do this, my friend! I totally understand your trepidation, but I'm sure you'll do fine! You'll need some time off of work though, but maybe not much. Get the details from your doctor! All the best!

You will be OK Judy. I know a few people who had it. Nervous too but worked out great and happy with results. You may have to miss a couple days of work, but not long.

Everyone I know who has had it, is thrilled with the results after. Often, report of no more glasses. And yes, I've been told it's all lazier now as well. Most people are told the eye can be sore after, but I've never had anyone complain to me after.

It's outpatient surgery. No cutting . . . . done by laser. You don't feel anything. No pain.

You will have a series of eye drops to use at various time prior to surgery and after surgery as well. You will have special sunglasses provided (at least I was provided them). You have to wear an eye shield over your eye when you sleep.

Vision is checked the day after surgery.

I had both mine done. 20/20 vision w/o reading glasses!

Good luck and I'm sure your Dr. will explain everything prior to surgery. Oh, they'll have you in for a eye exam a bit before your surgery to be sure they get the right lens for you and do measurements, etc. Nothing painful.

    Good luck!

My mom had it done before. It was outpatient, but you may have to be off work for a couple of days. Ask the doctor or nurse what you may experience. Good luck!
