Well when it rains it pours! My middle son contacted us yesterday morning saying his breaks went out. He is safe and there was no accident. He is newly on his own, started his brand new career as a high school english teacher. He lives about a half hour away from his brand new job in his new apartment by himself for the first time. All summer he was hee hawing back and forth to figure out if he should get a place closer to work or a more reliable vehicle. We kept pointing him in the direction of a more dependable vehicle. Of course he didn't heed our warning and on the spur of the moment rented an apartment out of nowhere in less than a 24 hour time frame. We were shocked. Yet. He complained about his car. Well, alas, we took two vehicles up to where he was and met him at the mechanic. He checked with more than one mechanic in that town and no one would work on it. It is too far gone. It doesn't just need breaks, it is not safe to drive. The frame of the car is about to break the drive shaft blah blah they don't even want to put one of their guys under the vehicle. Well they took pictures. It is donezoh. They let him store his vehicle there over night and offered to junk it or tow it to where ever he wanted. I told him to get every single thing out of it as though he is never gonna see it again. He left stuff in it. Well, we spent the evening last night checking out cars to see if there was anything he could afford. Found one possibility but the place was closing. Which comes to today. We will go up there again after we pick up our youngest son from school. We have to get the junk vehicle off their property and figure out if we can use it as a trade or scrap it for what we can get. Ahhhh young 20 somethings thinking they know it all. But when trouble calls we are the first to be called. That's how it is supposed to go. Right?? I am just glad he didn't hurt himself or anyone else.

Well because of all this, we are eating out. Last night the guys were set on eating burgers. Ok, fine. I took my bun off, no ketchup but did have mayo, lettuce, onion, tomato and pickle with two patties. Tonight, I think we will do Jimmy Johns. I can have an unwhich there. Then I will feel safe. I am really doing my best to stay on track. I lost another pound too 183 lbs now.

Big deep breath and away I go!!!! emoticon

I can't imagine how hard it is to parent in this day and age. But take care of yourself first and let your son learn to take care of the basics for himself. As a college educated young adult, he should know that not everything can be fun, and you have to grow up and be independent. emoticon
