October 13, 2019 WASH IT OUT
It’s that time of year again. It’s flu season. It is so amazing how quickly dirt and germs accumulate in our homes. We are told to do all we can not to spread germs if we want to stay healthy and help others to as well. Cleaning is important for good health for our bodies and minds. We should allow God to cleanse our minds regularly to remove any filth from this world. How do we do this? We can pray daily. We can read His word daily. We can meditate on His word and apply it to our lives every single day.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” (NLT)
1. Write how you cleanse your mind.
2. List how God wants to cleanse your mind.
3. Dig deeper into God’s word.
4. Read it, remember it, meditate on it and act on it.
Dear Lord, we want to come to You daily for a clean mind. We know the ways of this world can certainly dirty our minds. We know the more we stay in this world, the dirtier our minds will be. Help us to stay in Your word reading it daily. Help us to take time to remember it and meditate on it. And, Lord, we pray You will show us opportunities to apply Your word to our lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We are to hold firmly to God’s word which brings life and cleanses every part of our being.
Philippians 2:16 “Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless.” (NLT)
God allowed Christ to use His word to cleanse the church. He wants us to use His word to clean our minds.
Ephesians 5:26b “Christ used the word to make the church clean by washing it with water.” (NCV)
Our souls are saved and our minds are cleansed only by the word of God.
1 Corinthians 15:2 “By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.” (NLT)
