October 14, 2019 HAPPY MINDS
We all want to be happy. Even the most saddest and cynical person really wants to be happy. However, we don’t always go to the right places to find that happiness. We look to others to make us happy. We look to movies or books to bring us joy. We try to find happiness in this word by various means and we may be filled for a while but eventually we are seeking happiness again. Only God can give us true joy and real happiness. Happiness, love and joy can only be found in God. We are to trust in Him, read His word, talk with Him and obey Him. Then we will experience true and lasting happiness.
Psalm 1:1-2 “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.” (NLT)
1. Write what you have done to attain happiness.
2. List the things the world offers for people to be happy.
3. Know God is the only way to true happiness and joy.
4. Trust in Him. Pray to Him. Read His word. Obey Him.
Dear Lord, we pray You will remind us daily that true joy and happiness only come from You. When we stay in Your word, we will find joy. When we talk to You and trust in You, we will find happiness. When we allow Your Holy Spirit to guide us, we will make right decisions that will bring joy to our hearts and happiness to our minds. We love You, Lord and trust in You. Show us Your way today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Happiness, love and joy are found in the path of God’s commands
Psalm 119:35 “Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.” (NLT)
We will have joy-filled minds when we read God’s word every day.
Jeremiah 15:16 “Your words are what sustain me; they are food to my hungry soul. They bring joy to my sorrowing heart and delight me. How proud I am to bear your name, O Lord.” (LB)
Never forgetting God’s word means we are to memorize it.
Psalm 119:16 “I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word.” (NLT)
