October 17, 2019 DISCOURAGED MINDS
There are many ways we can get discouraged. We lose our confidence. We lose our enthusiasm. We allow someone or something to take away our courage. We lose heart. When discouragement happens, it slows us down and sometimes even stops us. Allowing our minds to be discouraged means we are giving up on God. God wants us to remember no matter what happens in our lives He is still in control. He tells us to not be afraid or discouraged. He wants us to remember He is with us wherever we go.
Joshua 1:9 “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (NLT)
1. Write about when you have been discouraged.
2. List the situations that cause others to get discouraged.
3. Remember God is always with you.
4. Turn to God and meditate on His word remembering He is always with you.
Dear Lord, we are so grateful for the promises You give us reminding us You are always with us. We know we can replace discouragement with hope. We know we can look forward to what You are going to do in our lives when we have troubles rather than getting discouraged about the situation. We want to stay in Your word and meditate on it remembering Your great promises on why we are to not be discouraged. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God wants us to remember to not be discouraged but know He will never fail nor abandon us.
Deuteronomy 31:8 “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.” (NLT)
God wants us to remember not to be discouraged but know He will give us strength and help us.
Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” (NLT)
God wants us to remember not to be discouraged but know we can put our hope in Him and praise Him despite what is going on around us.
Psalm 42:5-6a “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God!” (NLT)
