Intuitive eating

I've been following the general principles of intuitive eating which are to follow your body's signals and eat exactly when you're hungry and stop when full. It's interesting because after years of either being on a diet or feeling like I should be on a diet I had stopped actually listening to very specific body signals of hunger and thirst.
That sounds kind of nuts when I see it typed out but I think constraining ourselves via diets to very specific times of eating very specific foods actually causes us to somewhat lose the ability to pay attention to our own body signals because we're so stringent about eating only at certain time.
It's only been a couple days for me and I'm noticing that it is an intentional and thoughtful way of being and I'm really not overeating like I thought I would. I just end up eating meals a little earlier than usual.
