Spark People helped me to recover after a Back Slide

I took a bit of a backslide as we started the school year. It took me longer than usual to get myself back into a routine.
I slacked off on tracking, and I allowed myself to use excuses not to exercise. This went on for about six weeks. I gained back 5 pounds.
But, SparkPeople came to the rescue. I read a blog about exercise "snacks." Short bursts of activity when you can squeeze them in during the day. That little blog motivated me to start my prep period walk again. I have just enough time this during the day to get in a 1/2 mile relatively steep walk. That little bit of activity reminded me how much I missed my longer walks, so I packed my gym bag and got in a couple of longer walks this week and one good dance session with Body Groove.
In the meantime, I have added a strength training exercise snack to my morning routine. I do 10 minutes of strength training before I make the bed each morning. I don't get up any earlier, and I just made the time by packing my lunch and getting out my clothes the day before. I also simplified my makeup routine. Voila! Ten extra minutes.
