It's You.

Saturday, November 02, 2019

Looking back the past few months, my path in life has been a bit crazy. Recovering from a cervical 5 level fusion surgery in the middle of June has not been easy. I am constantly uncomfortable, my neck is stiff though I do have mobility to drive but I depend on my screen for reversing. I cannot turn my neck to the degree that I use to pre surgery. Eighteen years ago I had a three level cervical fusion. So now today, with a total of an 8 level fusion, my neck really and truly is annoying. Physical Therapy was a bomb; I was given some exercises and then walking papers after 4 visits. I am doing the exercises but feel no improvement.

Such is life…..

I read a short and simple blog today (not from this site,) from one of my favorite all time blogger. She titled is “Things Of Beauty,” with a list of four beautiful and thoughtful situations. I’d like to cut and paste what she wrote to share it with you and hopefully it will spark your spirit somehow.

1. During courtship, a male Adelie penguin presents his chosen female with a pebble as a gift. If the female accepts, they mate for life.

2. In a Connecticut jail, more than 600 inmates are spending their days training service dogs to pass along to those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

3. If you die in Amsterdam with no next of kin, and/or no one to mourn for you, a poet will write a poem for you and recite it at your funeral.

4. You, today.

All four listed are heartwarming, but the forth: “You, Today” truly hit home. How often we miss the chance to do something for ourselves when our mind is filled with obligations and for me, just being uncomfortable all the time. We must find time to hug ourselves, giving credit in the hopes of becoming or staying healthy on our journey. It is “You, Today” my friends. So consider doing something that will fill your heart as it should.

I am so sorry the results of your neck surgery have been disappointing.

"You today" is the most important message for us. The present moment is mostly happier than the past moments we dwell on or the future moments we fret about.

First of all, sorry that your neck is still such an issue for you. **SIGH** But you seem to have a good attitude about it.

LOVE the blog today and thank you for those points. There really is a lot of beauty in life!

I love number 3. If only the whole world was like that. What a beautiful place it would be!

Yes, me time is essential! I hope you are not seeing bad effects with all these fires in Northern California.

Wonderful reminder. I am so sorry that you are still having trouble with your neck. I get what you said about physical therapy - I went for a couple times to refresh my exercises for my knees and I am doing them faithfully but it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. I suppose the next step is the Orthopedic.

But for today I will do something to fill my heart. Tom and I just got back from that Weaver's gallery opening. My what interesting things. There is a club that meets once a month which I am going to look into. Not sure weaving is my thing but it sure is worth a look!
