NSN Day 3 - Roller Derby
Tuesday, November 05, 2019
For me, going back to the basics also means finding something active and fun to do. Don't get me wrong, I love my gym, but I NEED the just purely fun movement stuff as well. For the next 5 weeks it will be Roller Derby. I'm taking the boot camp offered by our local derby organization. We started last night. In the past being told to run laps would have been a deal breaker in any kind of sport/activity. Because I've been adding some running to my treadmill work for the last few months it wasn't the humiliating huff and puff nightmare that it was in my childhood/teens. I loved that.
We're supposed to get on skates tonight and I'm super excited for that. I've been doing some figure skating lessons here and there over the last year but floor time with NO ONE under 18 sounds a bit like heaven to me. I'm pretty sure I'm not planning to play derby at the end of this after the head injury in January I am super leary of contact sports but I am looking into maybe officiating. We are all going to be cross trained for NSO during this process so that's exciting.
Off to work then to derby practice. Let's Do THIS!
