Following the Recipe for Health
Thursday, November 07, 2019
Something that was hard for me to understand was people that could read, but that couldn't follow a recipe. Until I had my Ah-ha moment. I want to be healthier, but I have been following five different recipes simultaneously and somehow I am surprised that I haven't gotten the results I wanted.
This time, I will follow the recipe and do each of the steps as recommended! According to the instructions, it will take about 50 more weeks to finish this recipe for health.
In my first two weeks I have accomplished the following:
I made a decision to be patient with myself, as this was going to be something new. I gave myself permission to unlearn everything I thought I knew and to trust other ways of doing things.
I actually made and kept appointments with my Primary, Gyn, Optical and got the screening mammogram done, to make sure I was cleared to begin a program and didn't have other underlying health issues.
I visited a local gym to see if I liked it and got the information to use my employee discount.
I got over my fear and joined Spark People and integrated my technology (including apps) - allowing my technology to support my goal.
I started tracking my food and water on the tracker - judgement free - and I didn't die!
So at this point, I am clear to exercise, I have a place go, know where I am starting from, have a way to track my food and a community to communicate with. Upcoming steps include wrapping my brain around sleep, stress relief, healthy eating and getting regular exercise.
This is a new way of doing things for me. Doing things my way wasn't working. I'm going to follow this recipe and see if I end up healthy!
