I'm Moving Right Along!

Wednesday, November 13, 2019

My daughter was here visiting from last Thursday morning to Tuesday (yesterday) morning. We were very active while she was here and my back and hip started to hurt. After it happened the fourth time, hubby and I decided that I should have all four of my joint replacements checked, before I dive into any regular exercise. So....While I was at PT this morning, I asked the head PT if she knew any good joint replacement doctors. She recommended only three. The first doctor is in a small practice near a local hospital. The second and third doctors are specialists with a large orthopedic practice. I looked up both of the practices and selected the smaller practice. I see a specialist this coming Monday! The PT told me that based upon where the pain was coming from, it's either the hip or the back. Hopefully, it will just be some atrophy in the muscles surrounding the two joint replacements on the right side. Exercise will make that stronger but if it's the lower back, I have no idea what will help it. I refuse to get ahead of myself so I'll just put it out of my mind and see what the doctor says on Monday.

The good news is that I was released from therapy (for my hand/wrist) this morning! I'm cleared to continue my home therapy and return to water aerobics and Silver Sneakers. Now if my hip issues are minor, I'm on my way to returning to my workouts! I can't wait!

You are SO WISE to be proactive and get the joints checked BEFORE jumping back into any strenuous workouts.

Hoping continued strengthening is all that's needed and your joint replacements are all good. Has any core work to support the back been suggested?

Glad the PT was able to provide suggestions for specialists. Happy to hear you're on your way!!

You have a great plan. Your PT helped identify where the pain is coming from and you have a doctor chosen to evaluate the cause.

You PTs release to return to fitness is such great news, too!

OH I am SO glad you are so far! You have really done WELL!!! And when I think back to a couple years ago...YIKE....SO happy to read this blog today! I can't wait to hear every detail of the rest of it. My one hip replacement still gives me trouble (stiff) so I'm anxious to hear about your replacements.

You are an amazing lady, Cyndi. And I am SO VERY glad for you to be this far! emoticon emoticon

So good to hear about the release! I too love the pool, but mine is seasonal , so I am transitioning to pedaling. Sigh, can’t wait for springtime to get back in. Praying that the specialists will say everything is ok.
