Day 102: other views on Thanksgiving and filling my plate with veggies
Wednesday, November 13, 2019
To follow up on yesterday's blog, I did get a gift today! It's small and not much but every little bit I do now helps! They were playing Christmas music at the store and had Christmas decorations EVERYWHERE! What happened to Thanksgiving?? Ah well.
I did kind of read into it and was reminded that a lot of people find Thanksgiving offensive! Can you believe it!? Yea, I do understand.
First of all, the whole history between native Americans and pilgrims is a touchy subject
and 2nd: A lot of people see the holiday as gluttonous and cruel to animals (turkeys)
So, yes, I can see that and in some ways agree, but Thanksgiving is also about giving thanks, being with family and reflecting in what we have. I won't write more about it because it's touchy but I thought it was interesting reading about different points of views on it. Same with Halloween.
Anyway, I know it's still 16 days away but I'm already planning my plate. Gonna try to fill it up with green beans and corn sides more then the carbs! It won't be easy because I love stuffing and mashed potatoes!
Today, I'm thankful for volunteers. People that give with all of their hearts to help others. I hope to spend some time volunteering soon!
Very hard to read, but it says
"4500, the average calories in a Thanksgiving meal"
"Add color to your plate"
