A Sense of Purpose as I Near a Goal

This week each day I wake with a sense of purpose, to make progress towards my interim goal the 180's. I am doing better staying in my calorie range, so my weigh-in this morning 190.6 pounds, thrilling so close! I am optimistic that I can lose .7 pounds in the last 2 weeks of the challenge. I am less sure I can hit my targeted challenge goal weight of 186.2.

I love the phrase 'eudaimonic well-being' which refers to the subjective experiences associated with well-being related to an individual's perception of fulfillment in life, happiness associated with a sense of purpose or meaning in life.

I am being more pro-active around food.

1) Wednesday the evening sorority meeting was hosted by a woman who always puts out a great spread of delicious food. I took along my own apple slices and string cheese, and ignored the hot appetizers, cheeses, pepperoni, pecan tarts, etc. I sat next to my friend Lana and we chatted about her art projects. As I nibbled on the apple slices and cheese, I noticed she did not move from her seat, and she ate nothing. I said nothing to Lana about it, and she said nothing to me. No one seemed to notice what I was doing, so I have proved to myself, it's ok to be me and do what I need to do to take care of me. By staying seated with Lana I avoided temptation, though I did go past the table of goodies while I was getting tea.

2) Thursday at canasta, my friend and I split a beef dip with a side salad. I find half is always enough.

3) Friday night the entertainment at the sockhop was unique. There were 10 people in the singing group, all decked out in 1950's garb. They introduced themselves and stated their names and ages. They are all in their 80's and 90's and learned the songs on the radio back in the '50s. The leader/singer/comedienne has been an entertainer for 60 years. Their mission is to show you can have fun and be active at any age. It was fun to see everyone in costume and enjoying themselves so much. Our friends had dinner there, but we ate at home before the sockhop, so again I was pro-active.

With puppy activity, projects around the house and dancing I got 14,700 steps yesterday.

Today I am looking for a pet sitter to stay in our home. The place where Royce usually goes were not keen on taking the puppy.

We have nothing planned for today. Hubby is completing the pantry shelves and I am moving ahead with the kitchen decluttering project. Later we are going to Downton Abbey, and as always no eating in the theater.
