Roasting a chicken

Saturday, November 16, 2019

I am thinking of roasting a chicken either tomorrow or Tuesday. I have looked up recipes for one but it calls for a 3 to 3.5 pound chicken. The chicken that I have is a 5.94 pound size. The time that saw for the smaller size is anywhere between 1.25 to 1.5 hours to cook. How long should I cook this in the oven? If I did it in the crockpot, how long should I have it in there? I have never cooked a chicken whole. It was already cut up when I got it.

Remember to allow 10-15 minutes after roasting to let the chicken (or any meat for that matter) rest so the juices can redistribute within the bird. If you cut it right away, all the juices will flow out and your servings will be dry. emoticon

This is what a found with a quick search:
How to roast a whole chicken including roasting times
    www.helpwithcooking.com/..
    ./roast-chicken.html
As a general rule, calculate a cooking time of 20 minutes per pound of meat plus an additional 10 - 20 minutes at a temperature of 375ºF (190ºC). Therefore, a 5 lb chicken will need to be roasting in the oven for at least 1h 50 mins.

    Hope it helps
