November 18, 2019 SHOWING GOODNESS

As we set our goals in life, we tend to think about what we want to do or be. The quality of goodness is a good goal for all people. The definition of true goodness can be found in God’s word. If we attempt being good by the world’s standards, we will certainly fall short of God’s perfect plan for us. However, we can find the true goodness He has called us to do. He tells us we can show His goodness to others which is the greatest goodness of all.

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” (NLT)

1. Write what you know about God’s goodness.
2. List the ways you can show His goodness to others.
3. Remember God’s goodness is far greater than anything good in this world.
4. Seek ways to display God’s goodness to others today.

Dear Lord, we don’t often think about Your goodness. We stay busy thinking about ourselves or the things in this world. Help us to read about Your goodness in Your word. Help us to think about and meditate on Your goodness. Help us to display Your goodness to others in what we say and in what we do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We should make it a goal to display the goodness of God to all we encounter.

Romans 14:17 “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (NLT)

We can only show true goodness when we allow God’s Holy Spirit to work through us.

Ephesians 5:9 “For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.” (NLT)

God tells us that His goodness and love will be with us all of our lives if we put our trust in Him.

Psalm 23:6 “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.” (NLT)
