Faith in something bigger than yourself

Monday, November 18, 2019

Good morning friends. The Yoga stretching and self care yesterday seems to have done the trick, woke up this morning and the ache in my back was gone. Started my day yesterday with oatmeal with sauteed pears in cardamom and cloves with some fat free greek yogurt to make it creamy.., that held me until after youth group when I was able to come home and make my chilean sea bass with a pear, pepper, persimmon and cranberry chutney with a side of balsamic honey roasted brussel sprouts. Yummy... my "dinner" was a slice of carvel ice cream cake celebrating my nephew/bro combo birthday. Later on I indulged in 2 of the pear/cranberry brie butter cookies I made for my cider, cookies and crystal party tonight.. new recipe i made up so I couldn't serve them without knowing if they were any good right? 馃槆馃き

Had a good meeting with the kids yesterday..we ended up talking the entire time.. These days, kids have so many more things to focus on then we did growing up. They are expected to have all this experience and knowledge and activities to be competitive when applying for college..the room for practicing their faith has seemed to decrease along with the new expectations.. so I try to do whatever I can to help the realize that they are living their faith in their every day activities so they stay somewhat connected.

Music has always been one of the things that gets the kids engaged and excited from year to year, so I told them about this amazing retreat we had done years ago, fully formed around their favorite songs... and I asked them if they would want to do something like that and the response was overwhelming.. every one in the room said yes..

So now they are on a quest to pay attention to their favorite songs this month and find one that they can tie back to some message from the bible and can also be used as part of the retreat, that will take place some time in the late spring, which they will create (with our help of course).

I'm so super excited and they were as well as several of them were saying they already knew the exact song, or they had a couple they felt they could use. I truly believe that people of faith (any faith in something) have hope and find greater peace in their lives. I know without a doubt that for me personally my relationship with Jesus is the anchor that keeps me steady in times of trouble as well as increases my joy in the good times.

Now I need to bake some more before work starts for the party tonight, actually it's a jewelry fundraiser for the youth group.

Got in a great workout at #cko this morning, and I will make choices for breakfast and lunch that will allow for my evening nontraditional "dinner". .

Have a magnificent Monday.. this morning after my workout, my sweaty hair formed a little heart on the mat. A definite sign that today is going to be wonderful! #faith #musicislife

One of my favorite women retreats years ago, was bringing a nonchurch song with spiritual meaning to you. A "Sister Act" kind of twist. Great idea for youth group.

Great blog my busy busy friend..
but I was a tad disappointed...
no picture of the recipe you made up for "pear/cranberry brie butter cookies"
they sound delicious. and I have absolutely no idea how one would go about creating their recipe.
You are a lady of so many talents.
thank you for sharing glimpses of your world.
