Few have it (I’ve LEARNED it), how do you get it?
Encouraging memes are wonderful, and some even have a bit of wisdom, but there’s a lot more to inner peace than just reading about it — however encouraging it may be. Inner change is required, a change of point of view coupled with a “change of heart”. In other words: if I want to learn not to be offended by someone insulting me to my face, to be offended initially is fine (they’re being rude), BUT to be thinking about it for HOURS (off and on) or worse yet, mulling on it (off and on) for days is too, too much.
So how do you change perspective?
(Disclaimer: the following contains faith-based material, intended to encourage, not to offend. 😺) Know that who God, your Creator sees you, matters more than someone being rude and insulting. Know that someone who would treat you this way treats EVERYONE this way — you are NOT a special exception. They are “equal opportunity offenders”. It’s about who THEY are, not who YOU are. FORGIVE THEM, because they don’t understand the emotional repercussions of what they’re doing to THEMSELVES and their loved ones. Decide to emotionally let it go... but how?
You changed perspective, so here’s the change of heart. Have compassion (not condoning) for their miserable emotional life; they are indeed their own worst enemy. They make themselves AND those who care about them MISERABLE. That is tragic and sad. Pray for them: that they find their Creator (God) if they haven’t or that God corrects and helps them to see the truth if they claim they are also a Child of God (as you are). Then give it to God, and LET IT GO.
Are you going to learn and succeed at doing this in an instant? I really doubt it — it took me YEARS. But, at each offense, I got better and better at learning this stuff. Now, I DO live in emotional peace. I CHOOSE IT.
Need further encouragement?
Proverbs 3:21-26 (Message Translation)
Never Walk Away
21 Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don’t for a minute lose sight of them. 22 They’ll keep your soul alive and well, they’ll keep you fit and attractive.
23 You’ll travel safely, you’ll neither tire nor trip. 24 You’ll take afternoon naps without a worry, you’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep.
25 No need to panic over alarms or surprises, or predictions that doomsday’s just around the corner, 26 Because God will be right there with you;
he’ll keep you safe and sound.
That’s all folks!
Peace, Love and Forgiveness to all ❤️❤️❤️😺
