False starts and a new plan

Wednesday, November 20, 2019

I was completely off the wagon and gained it all back, and probably more - the battery in my scale is dead. *sigh*

I think I've decided to get bariatric surgery.

I just can't put so much work into measuring and weighing and tracking my food and then slip and all the work I did was for nothing. This was the second time I've gotten to the 170lb range and then crashed and burned and gained it all back. I just can't do it again. SO. Maybe a gastric bypass/sleeve will help me stay on track longer than a year.

My mom and my aunt have had the surgery and they had great success, my aunt did better because she goes to the gym regularly and my mom doesn't. So I know that's still hugely important to continue.

I had a sort of phone consultation already and she mentioned that some insurance companies require a food diary for a certain amount of time. I can't get the process really started til next year when the new insurance starts, but I figured I can start tracking again so I'll have the record when they need it.

I had the sleeve on 1/21/20. I'm happy I did. I simply could not do it on my own. There's a good book called, "How weight loss surgery really works," by Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon. It really explains why some of us just can't do it on our own.
