The Results Are In

I saw the doctor yesterday. My blood work and urine test results were in. He was very happy with all of the results. Everything is either where he wants it to be, or at least, continuing to move in the right direction.
We talked about my not sleeping well. We talked about PCOS. We talked about not losing weight.
He suggested Intermittent Fasting 5 days a week, or at least every other day. He suggested I read about it and learn everything I can before starting. His concerns for me is that it will negatively affect my blood pressure and my blood sugar levels. Though I am not diabetic, having PCOS affects my glucose and insulin levels.
My goal for this week is to do the research. He says this fasting plan would be long term. I have many questions. WIll it be maintainable? He said during fast days I have to limit my carbs, sugars and proteins. SO what does that leave on the menu...fats? He said I have to prepare mentally to do it. HOw do I do that?
One thing I have learned along this journey, after trying many different options to lose weight, is that I need a plan that is both healthy and life style friendly. I want to be able to go out to eat sometimes. At holidays, I want to enjoy the food and fellowship. I do not want to feel like a freak with my eating habits.
My first step is to search here on SP for information about IF. I'll let you know what I find out.
I am counting my blessings this week and today I am thankful for my middle child, my older son.

    I do ok when our church does its 21 days of fasting and prayer each year, but other than that I don't really mess with it. We usually do the Daniel fast, which is very healthy, but I don't think I could do more than 21 days.

    I, too, had considered IF after diet counselor recommended it. I checked with all 4 on my physicians and specialists and was titled an absolute NO! With my health problems, including PCOS, it was not a good idea at all. After their inputs, combined with my researching it, it would not be realistic a lifestyle for many. Good luck with deciding what is best for you.....second opinions are important!

    Honestly, I am not too keen on IF. It messes my blood sugar so much...Very hard to manage as well. Good luck to you!

    I have heard lots about IF and that it can put diabetes into remission. I have read several books and talked with lots of people who are doing it, but I still cannot get myself to actually try it. I think I will discuss it with my doctor next visit. Good luck in your research
