First blog of the new month and new me!

I had weight loss surgery in January of this year. I didn't do it as a quick fix - I did it to save my life! The pre-surgery prep was grueling, but I knew exactly what I was facing before the surgery.

After some unforeseen complications - actually MANY - I am doing better and feeling better.

Before the surgery, I weighed almost 400 pounds, could barely breathe, was confined to a wheelchair and my back and knees hurt horribly.

I was able to lose 65 pounds pre-surgery and get out of the wheelchair.

After the surgery, I've continued to lose down to 251 (as of this morning). I don't need a wheelchair, walker, or scooter when walking; I have no problems with my breathing; my back doesn't hurt anymore, though my knees still do and will probably need to be replaced eventually.

It is a struggle every day! I still crave the "old" way of eating and find myself morning for it on occasion. Instead of letting it all get to me, I'm trying to find new foods that I enjoy and satisfy me. I'm learning to eat appropriately as far as how much, when, and where.

I'm very grateful for the support I've received from each of you along the journey. THAT has been the best part!

HUGS!
