Bathtub Party Day
Today's holiday is pretty simple: it is for inviting over friends and taking a bath. The creators of the day have said of it, "Almost everyone nowadays takes showers, so here’s a day to recall some of the luxury of days gone by. Invite a few friends."

Although plumbing systems for bathing date back to around 3300 BCE, the earliest found bathtub dates to about 1700 BCE and was found in Crete. Some sources claim that the first modern bathtub was invented in 1828, but most likely that is a based on a made up story from H.L. Mencken. Bathtubs can be either built-in, sunken, or free-standing and many are made from bonding porcelain enamel on cast iron, a process that was started in the 1880s. The clawfoot bathtub was wildly popular in the late nineteenth century, having originated in Holland in the mid-eighteenth century. It lost its popularity in the second half of the twentieth century as the built-in version was ascendant.

Invite over some friends and take turns taking a bath. As the creators of the day seem to imply, you could also take a bath with your friends. Perhaps you have a significant other you would be more comfortable having a bathtub party free-standing. There are plenty of ways to make your bathtub party the best bathtub party in town.
Here are a few ideas:

* Fill your bath with bubbles, essential oils, or epsom salts.
* Light some candles.
* Have wine or other beverages available.
* Put on some music.
* Have some bathtub toys available, such as rubber duckies or plastic boats.
