The DFS in our area is a joke. Our 5 kiddos were taken away for one day, then returned to the meth head parents because they cleaned the house and that somehow 'proved' they were making an effort and on the right track. They are on probation for 30 days, and if no one reports them for violations in those 30 days their record will be wiped clean. That is what the school was told. Half of that time, we won't have a clue what is going on because they will be home for Christmas break. They may or may not have food and heat and no one who cares will know. We have had several of our youngsters murdered by parents/caregivers during my career, all of which had been reported multiple times. So afraid it is going to happen again. That may not be unusual in a big city, but we are a small rural school. Our current enrollment is 80. It is so frustrating that more is done to protect the rights of criminals than to protect the lives of defenseless children.
