Don't wait until the New Year to start fresh!

Today is December 9th. It would be so easy to say, "You know, I'm going to enjoy the holiday season and not worry about focusing on my health until January 1st". I know I've fallen into that trap year after year, no matter what my goals were (diet, exercise, deep cleaning the house, etc.). NOT THIS YEAR!

I've made a plan for the weeks leading up to the New Year and I intend to stick with it. Two workouts/day at least 10 times between now and Christmas Day, one rest day per week. Sticking to my calories everyday except Saturdays, which is our treat day (no judgements, please. This is what works for me and has helped me not lose steam while losing the 30 lbs I've lost so far). Keep my carb into in check. Drink plenty of water. Make time to enjoy the season and not look at it as a stressful diet death-trap!

Am I going to enjoy lounging at home with my husband and son on Christmas, eating snacks and treats all day? You bet! Am I going to eat the hell out of the sour cream marble pound cake my mom makes for my birthday every year on December 26th? Hell to the yes. Am I going to drink margaritas and eat Mexican food at my birthday dinner with my husband and best friends? Uh huh! Am I going to feel guilty those things? Not a freakin' chance!

What I refuse to do, however, is give myself excuses to be unhealthy during all the rest of the time leading up to the New Year! I refuse to wake up January 1st and regret the weeks I wasted right *now* when I could have been losing weight and getting stronger. I have a lot left to lose so I can easily lose several pounds if I stick to my plan.

To quote one of my favorite groups (Rage Against the Machine), "It has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime, what better place than here? What better time than now?"
