THE HONEST ANSWER
Come now, you who says, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city; spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow--Instead you ought to say "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that."
The small boy wandered the aisles of the store carefully looking down each one. He was scared, bug when he saw an employee he remembered what he was supposed to do. He timidly approached and said, "I lost my Mommy," Within moments an announcement was made and mother and son were reunited.
Ad a child it is easy to ask for help, bu as for we grow older, it becomes harder for us to ask for help or direction. We place a high value on independence and self sufficiency. Often times we put up a front of self assured confidence, making grand plans for the future, even if we are struggling. There verses from James remind us that God welcomes humility and warns against false pride. Then we are honest about our limitations, we can experience a deep connection to God because He is eager to help us. We don't have to hide our needs or pretend we have it all together. When we run into difficulties or are uncertain bout the future, we can rely on Him as the highest authority. He has promised to remain with us through every circumstance and challenge; so we can confidently go to Him and ask for His direction and help.
