For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Luke 19:10

He was a traitor. As the chief tax collector for the Romans he represented greed and extortion. He was short in stature. Who was he? Luke 19 tells his story--how he sought o see Jesus, so he climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus as He passed by. When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and called him by name--"Zacchaeus." The people were incredulous, 'Doesn't Jesus know who he is?" They were so focused on the flaws of Zacchaeus , they failed to remember Who was in their presence-the One who called Zacchaeus by name.
Instead of seeing the generosity and love of Jesus in that moment, the crowd clung to their list of reasons why Zacchaeus should be disqualified from the attention and affection of God. It's easy to relate to that crowd. But when we focus on the failures of others, we miss seeing God's grace and love. God delights in drawing unlikely candidates to Himself and transforming them through His powerful presence.
Through his encounter with Jesus, greedy Zacchaes became generous Zacchaes. The once despised chief tax collector became a provider and helper to those in need. Are there unlikely candidate in your neighborhood who need to see Jesus? Help them come and meet the Savior.
