Cozy December Reflections on 2019

Sunday, December 22, 2019

I'm under the Christmas tree with my cup of coffee on this Sunday morning before church. And I'm thinking about how different things are this year. It was last year during the winter holidays that some friends told me about the health improvements they'd had with some dietary changes. And when I got back from traveling on Jan 1, I decided to give it a go.
Me in December 2018:

Me in December 2019:

TBH, I was happy then and I'm happy now. But I feel lots better now! After making dietary changes, some bad headaches I was having went away as well as stomachaches. That for me has been the biggest benefit of these lifestyle changes.

Another benefit has been that I've gotten a little more confident. I've gone hiking with others. I love hiking alone and go regularly, but I never wanted to go with others in case I couldn't keep up. I've started bouldering, which was really scary for me. But I love it! It's also easier to fly now with less of me in the seat. I've gone from a size 16 to a size 8/10/12. I've gone from XL tops to S/M. This has made shopping a whole lot more fun!

As I'm looking to the future and year 2 of living healthier, there are a few things I want to think about. 1. What fitness goals do I want for this year? 2. How can I work on self care? 3. How do I make sure I don't regain weight? I lost and regained a lot of weight several years ago and it was awful. 4. How do I balance life and healthy eating? It takes so much cooking, right!

Anyway, I'm so happy with my 2019 and really excited for 2020! BLC42 will start in early January and I'm ready to hit the ground running!

You are AWESOME! I believe you will make these lifestyle changes permanent. It is so nice to see how far you've come. I love that you were happy "then" and that you can better enjoy your happy "now" because of all the changes. It is all about feeling better. Your blog gives me food for thought in that I need to do some self-evaluation and planning for 2020. You are an inspiration and I am so glad we "met".
