Goodbye December ~ Welcome 2020
Saturday, January 04, 2020
I have come to realize that December's are now a rough month for me, which is sad as Christmas time has always been my favorite time of year. I love all the lights, decorations, of course the Christmas movies and my birthday is just after the holiday. It has been a busy time of year for me up until the last few years since my parents and my mother in law have now passed. I do not spend the holidays alone I have a wonderful husband however our traditions had always involved our parents. I realized too late this year what was happening and went way off the deep end with emotional eating. Making new traditions will be a focus of mine so next December is not the same avalanche of emotions burying me.
My birthday was always made a special day as to not get lost into the Christmas holiday. My dad made sure of this because we shared a birthday and as a child his was not made special, more for the financial end as he had 7 kids in the family. Growing up that was a very special thing to share the birthday however it leaves a big hole in the heart when one of you is not there to share the day. My husband tries hard and does a great job on filling the void.
Getting back on track for 2020
I was not very active on Spark during December and hope all my friends had a wonderful holiday and are off to a great start for the new year, new decade, and new attitude. I have spend the last few days reading entries and blogs to catch up with all of you. Thank you goodies, comments and most of all for your support.
This year I choose to have a word of the year ~ Positivity! I want to have a bright outlook on life and choose happy (thanks @texashsmomof3 and @stillsparkleigh for always showing positivity). I have armed myself with a new goal board (a birthday present to myself) and will update monthly and change as needed throughout the year.
I took my measurements and had a successful year (not going down the path of it could have been better!) overall I lost 50 lbs, 5" from my waist, and 7" from the hips. I have removed all 5X clothes from my closet, can only wear the 4X around the house (my phone in the pocket makes them slide off), and the 3X ones are loose too. This makes me happy and I have pulled out clothes I long ago packed up to enjoy again (okay some were out of style and went to donations or trash).
Sparkpeople, Spark friends and the 5% challenges have been my successful partners on this journey. They have made a last call for signing up for the challenge if you are interested in joining it is a great way to have accountability and support from teammates is awesome.
2020 is going to be Great
