Keeping the Spark Lit During Winter

I went back in the archives and every year I have the same issues. Bingey-beast tries to tempt me and my instinct to bulk up for winter goes wild. I start to lose my mojo with less exposure to sunlight and not enough quality sleep. The forces pulling me to give up are strong, but I am stronger.

How have I been keeping the spark the past few cold and miserable days?

1.) Either put on thermals and layers to walk outside or if it's too cold and/or there is ice, put a DVD in/find a youtube video and exercise inside. Maybe grab some weights and lift! Giving up exercise is not an option unless ill, exhausted or injured.

2.) Whole foods help curb a binge. I find grabbing a handful of unsalted raw nuts, eating some roasted vegetables or some left over quinoa fills me up better than anything processed.

3.) Continue to stop eating after dinner. Even if I am hungry I stop solids. If needed I have some bone broth, but that is it after dinner.

4.) Protect sleep. Quality sleep is vital to my willpower during winter and having to wake at 5:40am on week days (for older child's middle school) makes it difficult since I'm a night owl. I must get into bed early enough and practice good sleep hygiene. Every minute counts.

I continue to maintain my weightloss. I still have not gotten back to tracking my food and I think that will be the key to losing more, but I am thrilled I have maintained especially given all the temptations of the holidays.
