Getting things in order

Thursday, January 23, 2020

I love to get organized. I draw the line at compulsive about it, because I do slack off sometimes. Plus I've seen some people's homes who are OCD about it, and I'm thankful I'm not like that. We moved into our new home 5 months ago. We opted to have a complete interior paint job (including ceilings) before we moved the furniture in. That took 2 weeks. Then the kitchen remodel started, which took another 4-5 weeks. We also remodeled the laundry room (still not complete, but functional). To top that, we decided to build a closet system in our Master closet. DH wanted to try his handiwork at the closet design. He started the project the beginning of October. About three weeks later, he had surgery on his neck spine for a bulging disc. Very good outcome after a six week recovery, and no lifting. But the closest wasn't finished. Then Christmas hit, and we both got sick after the holidays. That viral illness knocked us out for a good three weeks! Needless to say, the closet is not finished. Thank goodness we are empty nesters, and newly retired! All of our belongings are in our guest bedroom... and wardrobe boxes. Sigh. But there is an end in sight. He has finished all the trim work, and will finish the painting today. Good thing too, because we have guests coming for the wkend! Meanwhile, I've been busy reorganizing closets and pantry. It's so hard to figure out how your kitchen, bathroom, or even a linen closet will function when you first move in. But it gives me great satisfaction when I find the right combination of organization. Or finding new ways to reuse something. Today I plan to hang pictures. Then it will really feel like home. Hope you have a great day!
