A rough week and a dream board

Friday, January 24, 2020

Well, this has been a rough week for me! So I'm chilling at home with some coffee on this Saturday morning to try to learn from the past week and plan my upcoming week.

The problems: I was constantly stressed last week. There's a lot going on at work, and I definitely tried to solve my problems with sugar. I think this kind of added to my stress, because my body really doesn't respond well to sugar. Even when something really good happened midweek, I found myself kind of overly stressed about it.

Some things went well -
emoticon I had food at work every day. I didn't have to take a lunch every day, because I was able to eat some of the school lunches. So I left my leftovers in the fridge, and they were available all week.
emoticonI did better at reading more and watching (a little) less YouTube.
emoticonEven though I missed my weekend shopping, I still had food on hand most of the time.

Some things didn't go well -
emoticon I left work HUNGRY most days and bought and ate a lot of junk in the evenings. It turns out that I really don't like eating a snack in front of my coworkers. But when I leave work hungry, I am almost guaranteed to break and eat something I don't really want.
emoticonI didn't exercise as much as I probably needed. Exercise helps relieve stress, but who wants to go work out when you are hungry and tired and stressed?

Continue with my current goals, but with the following change.
emoticon I will change my 4pm snack from food to a protein shake. I can't leave work and move on to my evening activities hungry. That's not working for me. Since I'm pretty busy at 4, it will be easier to drink a protein shake while I'm working instead of trying to stop and eat something. Plus, I don't like eating snacks in front of my coworkers.

Dream/Vision Board:
I made a dream board online, and I thought I'd put it here because the website, while fun to use, is a pain to get back to. I don't really know what to do with it now! Maybe it will go into my next set of goals.

emoticon I am learning to relax and take care of my introverted side as well as my social side.
emoticon I genuinely care about everyone in my life and want the best for them.
emoticon I am always on the lookout for small beautiful moments around me.
emoticon I do my best work every day, wherever I work.
emoticon I am making my relationship with God the number one priority in my life.
emoticon I drink green smoothies (IDK why I put that in) and nourishing my body daily. I feel alive!

Really like your plan to implement a protein shake at 4pm. Curious to see how it works (or not) for you. Suspect it is going to be a winner. Good thinking!

Your awareness of the part stress is playing is critical and you have options for addressing it. emoticon

Not sure if you're blogging from a web based program or the app. If you're using a web based program, from the Start Page one can access (look just below the image Explore and join a new Challenge!) the Past Step 2 Features - More Goals & Goal Board. Your vision board could be 'parked' there.

    Wishing you much joy!

I think you've identified a number of things that will help you going forward. One thing that is in your favor is you are a continual learner. You are insightful and thoughtful and you will figure this out. Stress management is key. Finding a substitute for sugar is possible. Exercise is beneficial--my "go to" activity when I get stressed or upset is to clean something. Good thing I don't get stressed or upset often! I hope you have a better week. I'm here if you need a friend.
