Indoor gardening

Now that I'm retired, I find myself getting back to the things I used to love doing, but didn't have the time. Music, reading, gardening, travel... to name a few. Today I cut up a pineapple for my yogurt breakfast. I suddenly had an urge to grow the pineapple. I've done it before, altho it succumbed later due to my neglect. I usually twist the top off and put the pulp that the top is attached to in water to root. My poor arthritic hands just couldn't do it. I threw it in the trash in disgust and frustration. Then I had an epiphany: try rooting it with the intact part that the top was attached to. So, I pulled it out, rinsed it off, and put in a shallow dish with a little water. She is sitting on my counter so I'll be checking her progress daily. Wish me luck!

Fun idea. Next time I buy a pineapple I might try to grow one too!

Good luck. If I'm ever brave enough to buy a whole pineapple to cut up myself, I'll try this.
