Grocery store steps

Since I've been tracking my steps daily, I have found ways to make sure I get my 10k/ day. For example, I walk circles in my house while my Keurig is making a cup of coffee. I try to get at least a thousand steps before I start my day.
I had an awful night of insomnia last night. So I really wasn't up for a workout, or an extensive dog walk today. I had to go get groceries, so I figured that would help get my steps in.
Surprisingly, grocery shopping is not a great "step spender". By the time I got home, I had 1800 steps on my watch. So....off I went to walk the pups!
In retrospect, I think I am a very efficient shopper. I know my store very well and keep a list with me. And now that I'm eating healthy, I shop the walls... very little walking up and down the aisles.
