When Life Gets Tough - Look For A Silver Lining
Tuesday, February 11, 2020
The past 14 months have been tough. Although I try not to dwell on it, my husband is in bad health. In December 2018 he had a stint inserted into a coronary artery. Heart issues were discovered. Serving in the military, working hard as he rehabbed houses through the years along with his fulltime job finally "got him." The following January he developed kidney stones, 2 weeks later a pulmonary embolism put him in the hospital for 4 days. Surgery seemed to help. Flash forward one year and six days he was hospitalized for another 4 days with a second pulmonary embolism. It isn't easy to take. He was always healthy - but as he is now in his late 60s his health has gone down. It happens. Now we face a possibility of a serious surgery which will occur in a specialized center 4 hours north. We do not know for certain if and will this will happen. We left the pulmonologist's office yesterday as he pondered the situation. The diagnosis is now pulmonary hypertension. The silver lining is that he does not "pout" about life. He is keeping up the same activity level he did prior to the hospitalization. It certainly reminds me to be thankful for each day we have together. God is good and will certainly get us through any situation.
