I came across this photo I took several years ago.
I was staying at my daughter's house, caring for my grandson. One day I looked out the window and saw these sweet deer staring in at me. They were hungry. It had snowed for many days. They had eaten every piece of foliage they could find.
I love animals and of course I had to give them something. I put out veggies and apples. Nice and healthy, right.
It got me thinking. If I can be so caring of these animals, why can't I be as caring of myself and my own health?
When I am hungry why can't I give myself veggies and apples (or some other fruit)? WHy do so many times do I look for something carb laden or sweet?
The good news is I do not keep sweet foods, like cake, cookies etc in the house. Neither do I buy "snack foods that are salty and full of carbs.
But even "healthy" foods can be over eaten, eaten when not really hungry.
I think I am going to hang this photo of these deer where I can see it when I am hunting for food/ It I can be mindful of feeding them a healthy snack, I can do the same for myself.
