Happy Valentines Day!

Friday, February 14, 2020

I havent had a human Valentine in years...and my ex husband and then ex sig other were never ones to acknowledge it. It amazes me the people that get upset or angry if they dont get acknowledgement. I was always happy that they showed their love all year not just for one day. I always made a special dinner, with a special dessert, and that was it. When the kids were little i made a fuss, but not past that.

As a girl I remember "Cupid came". we would run to the fridge to see the unopened carton of milk...and every year my sister and i would open it..and there would be pink milk!! Magical..how did that happen? many, many years later we found out my mom used a syringe to inject food coloring and shake it up..
we always had a solid chocolate heart from Fanny Farmer that was from my Daddy, and a card from both him and my mom. There were always those conversation hearts, and a valentines tablecloth and paper plates. the day before we made roll out cookies and decorated them. I did all that for my kids, too...It was fun!!

Enjoy the day. If your mate forgets..give them a kiss and smile...and be glad for the love you get all year. My Valentine is my Lucyfur!!!! And shes more than enough!!

We've never really been big on Valentine's Day. Our first was when we were engaged and he wasn't home. And it quickly became just another day. I made a special dinner. And bought dessert for the kids and hubby. He is currently going to get me some soup because I'm not feeling great. That's WAY more special than if he got me flowers or chocolates or whatever.

What lovely childhood memories you have of Valentine's day. I love the pink milk!!! It was always special for me too and I carried it through to my two children. Now I can surprise my grand children with a special treat.

That is how I feel about Valentines Day, too...it’s only a day!
I buy my own flowers all year and treat my dear man to a small box of excellent chocolates and that is it.
I looooved VD in school growing up, though...all those cute cards.
And I had great fun with it all those years I taught third graders.
