Ready for every day life..

Sunday, February 16, 2020

Good morning friends.. Yesterday we started the process of getting ready to live on our brand new shiny floors. We did some shopping and planning and cleaning and touching up walls.

The first few steps I took on the new floor were tentative, as I was nervous I would leave a mark and scuff the surface. As I was removing items from a shelf we decided to take down, a stapler fell and hit the ground and I gasped and started to get upset worried that it was going to ruin the whole thing.. Hubby was working in the other room and I heard a broom or something else hit the floor and again a moment of panic.. then I realized how ridiculous I was being.

I started thinking about the process of redoing my floors and comparing it to this journey.

When we started our floors were a mess, beaten and worn and neglected for way too long. So we made the decision to make a change(before) .. we got the help we need and the floors were stripped down so they could be reconditioned and buffed and sanded and shined until they were restored to their once former glory (the journey). Now they are ready to be lived on and we are a little worried about how to live on them without messing them up.. (lifetime/maintenance).

But the truth is we know how to live on and walk on these floors. We know they are strong and will get some scuff marks and the occasional scratch, it will not be shiny and pretty everyday perhaps, but with attention and care, the scuffs and scratches can be buffed out. The dust and dirt that begins to accumulate can be removed with a mop or vacuum. If we spill something we wipe it up right away, before it can leave a permanent stain and this floor will carry us through a lifetime of memories and experiences.

Church, youth group, the gradual moving in of furniture...lifetime.. that's what's on my agenda.. what about yours?

Happy Sunday! May peace and happiness be yours for the asking. Don't be afraid to live life fully!

like the new car.. the fear of the first speck of dirt,
the first dent/scratch.. and with any luck none of those things happen until after the new-ness is not so new anymore.
enjoy the newness while it last.. too soon you will take the floors fore-granted,
and find a "new" worry to fret over.

What a wonderful, wonderful lesson and analogy! Definitely in the living now w/the new floor and getting thru the minor scratches, etc. part of life!

HUGS and blessings on your Sunday. Enjoy your newly refurbished flooring! Looks beautiful.
