Feeling Committed

Tuesday, February 18, 2020

My run this morning strengthened my commitment to live a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes it just works like that. I felt so much better after my run. Truth be told, I had overdone breakfast a little and needed to recommit. I set out to run a practice 5k, :30/:30 run/walk, in 12 minutes per mile or less and I did it - 11:50, 11:32, 11:47, 1:04 for 36:12.

I did it a little differently this morning. It was 69 degrees when I started and seemed to be warming up each moment, so I just did a 5 minute walking warm up and then took the dog for the 149th day challenge walk after the run. That works, too! It was my sweatiest run in months, but one of my recent best.

I did go to the physical therapist yesterday but didn't get any treatment. I'm going to have to see my primary doctor for a referral first. Darn. My back is feeling much better, but it is a continuing intermittent issue and the PT really thinks she can help. I want her to try. My foot that was sore feels fine now. So today is one of those blessed days where I don't have many aches or pains bothering me. Smile!

I give myself credit for not looking for excuses. I surprise myself at how consistent I have been exercising whenever my body tells me it is okay. I had a funny experience with a neighbor who asked me recently how I lost weight and kept it off and then didn't listen to the answer. She told me there is no way she could diet right now because her husband had bought a flat of locally grown strawberries. Guess she could not imagine eating strawberries without sugar, cake, whipped cream, ice cream. I just smiled and didn't tell her about the flat of strawberries in my fridge because I could tell she wasn't really interested. I think we can always find excuses if we want to.

Wishing you an excuse-free day of feeling proud of yourself!!

I can't get my screenshot to download today. It did transfer from my phone to my computer, but does not show up in the gallery or when I browse to look for it. Oh, well. Don't know what the problem is. I'll try to post just the documentation of the dog walk: Took a picture of dog and my watch documenting walk. Well, that isn't downloading either. Due to technical difficulties the documentation of today's challenge walk is unavailable!
