February 19, 2020 BEING RIGHT

So many people believe they are always right. Some even try to force their idea, opinion or ways on others because they believe they are right. Being right is extremely important to some. However, no one is ever right. Not exactly right. Because this world is full of sin. We aren’t completely right unless we are made right by Jesus. Thinking we are right in this world is something that really don’t matter. However, being right with God and being made righteous is what we are to live for. We are made righteous by faith because we can’t do it ourselves. We need God. We need be humble before we can be made right.

SCRIPTURE:
Philippians 3:9b “I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.” (NLT)

Romans 3:22 “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write about those you know who think they are right all the time.
2. List what God says you need to do to be right with Him.
3. Know God’s way is the only way to really live.
4. Humble yourself, seek His righteousness, and choose to have faith in only Him.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, You tell us in Your word how to find righteousness. We know being right in this world is useless. We are to seek to be made right with You by having faith in You. When we live in obedience to You, we will be made right by You. Thank You, Lord, for Your righteousness which helps us to do good and to be strengthened by You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
2 Timothy 4:7b-8 “I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.” (NLT)

Titus 2:11-13 “For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.” (NLT)

Galatians 5:5 “But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us.” (NLT)

Micah 6:8 “No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” (NLT)

Proverbs 21:21 “Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor.” (NLT)

FOCUS:
Ephesians 6:14 “Stand your ground, putting on…the body armor of God’s righteousness.” (NLT)
