February 25, 2020 WORKING FOR GOD
Growing spiritually is important in our lives as we build a firm foundation in God. We do this by reading His word and through worship and fellowship with Him. Another important act of obedience is to do His will. We are all called to use our talents and skills to work for God. Work does not bring salvation but because we are saved we will desire to work for God. Our mindset, in everything we do, should be to do all things as if we are working for the Lord and storing up our rewards in Heaven. Even though the work we do is different, we all have the same purpose. Work for God. Live like Jesus. Share His word.
1 Corinthians 3:7-8 “It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.” (NLT)
1. Write what you do to work for God.
2. List your talents and skills you can use to do His will.
3. Know God wants you to always work for Him.
4. Seek ways you can work for God in all you do.
Dear Lord, we want to remember every day we are to work only for You. When we try to work for others, we will only be disappointed because the rewards are only temporary. However, when we work for You, the rewards are eternal. When we work for others, we will be disappointed because they are human as well and could be jealous, bias, hurtful, uncaring, etc. However, when we work for You we will experience all the fruits of the Spirit such as love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. Thank You for Your direction and guidance. Thank You for the talents You give to us so we can work for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We are to work willingly for God in all we do. If we focus on working for someone other than God, we will not experience God’s blessings.
Colossians 3:23 “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” (NLT)
When we work, we should plan to do good work so we can receive God’s unfailing love and faithfulness.
Proverbs 14:22 “If you plan to do evil, you will be lost; if you plan to do good, you will receive unfailing love and faithfulness.” (NLT)
We don’t have to work for God alone. He is with us, for us and in us giving us the desire and power to do His will.
Philippians 2:13 “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” (NLT)
