Upbeat Early Week: Days #20 to 22 of Leveraging Lent for Health

Wednesday, March 18, 2020

Helloooooooooo --

I'm still here and still at it, past the halfway mark of Lent and under a mandatory shelter in place order!

I did enjoy some apple pie the other day. I indulged in a few chocolate covered almonds last night. But otherwise, I'm eating CLEAN -- very low sugar, no packaged snacks, many fruits & vegetables, plus lower fat sources of protein.

Working from home is a harder lift than I thought it would be. It's so tempting to be "always on." I'm exhausted by the end of the workday, just as much as if I'd undertaken my usual 45-minutes-each-way commute. So I am making a commitment now to pause for an hour in the afternoon to do at least my physical therapy routine (because all this sitting is wreaking havoc on my back). I am also going to go outside for at least 15 minutes each day; fresh air and daylight are keys to health.

How are the rest of you under shelter in place coping so far? And for others: Are you prepared for your local authorities to enforce the same kind of shutdown? (Hint: you should be -- it's likely coming.)

Please stay healthy & safe!

Although my husband is not too happy about my going outdoors, I have to take the dogs out for a walk in the morning and afternoon. Not only does this make them happy, but makes me happy and livable too. I truly love going outside in the sun.
