To maintain muscle mass and feel your best, remember these tips:

Lighter weights work: Fitness research reveals that muscle tissue responds when worked to a fatigue point. That means you can see good results from lifting less-hefty dumbbells with more repetitions, while maintaining proper form. When the muscle is exhausted, take a break.

Rest days count. Vary vigorous workouts with low-impact activity days reserved for walking, biking, or yoga. Also be sure to get enough sleep, so your body can repair and refresh. Most adults need at least 7 hours consistently.

Food is fuel. Muscles require a balanced diet make sure to add carbohydrates from whole grains, fruits, and vegetables and add heart-healthy fats such as olive oil, nuts, avocados.
