March 31, 2020 BROKEN FROM BURDENS
Spring is a time of cleaning, organizing and getting rid of clutter. In Hebrews 12:1, Paul tells us before he could move forward to do the will of God, he would need to get rid of what was bogging him down. He tells us here we are remove every weight that holds us down…especially sin. Burdens are heavy. They can keep us from moving forward. It’s time we let go of what is holding us back from doing the will of God. It may be a burden from the past, a sin we are dealing with right now or even worry about the future. Let’s give it to God and let go so we can live to do His will and bear fruit for Him.
Hebrews 12:1a “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.” (NLT)
1. Write about what is burdening you.
2. List your worries, sins and troubles.
3. Know God wants you to give Him your burdens.
4. Decide to give God your burdens so you are free to do His will.
Dear Lord, we are broken from our burdens and we need help. We want to give our burdens to You. We know You will take them so we can better focus on doing Your will. We can’t bear fruit for You if we are focused on our burdens. Take our worries, our sin, our troubles and free us from the bondage of burden. We know, by Your grace and mercy, we are saved and forgiven. Thank You, Lord, for Your mercy and grace. Thank You for taking our burdens so we are free to do bear fruit for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We can bear fruit for God when we focus on His Good News and let Him handle our burdens.
Colossians 1:6 “This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.” (NLT)
Jesus wants us to come to Him and lay our burdens at His feet so He can give us rest.
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (NIV)
God will not allow His people to fall. He wants to take care of us if we will only give Him our burdens.
Psalm 55:22 “Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” (NLT)
