Thought and Prayer for Monday, April 6, 2020

Monday, April 06, 2020

There are many people in this world who are not willing to learn. They want things their way and don’t want to see things any other way. They believe they have learned it all, seen it all and know it all. These people aren’t open to change and they are definitely not teachable. However, if we want to experience the most out of the life we have, we need to be open to learning new things and be teachable.

We see this so many times in the Bible. God tells us He has great plans for us. If we want to know those plans, we have to be teachable. Jesus says everything He did He learned from His Father. He was teachable. If we want to be led by the Holy Spirit, we need to be teachable. Meditating on God’s word will help us to be more teachable as we absorb His word into our minds and hearts.

Psalm 119:130 “The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand.” (NLT)

1. Write what you still need to learn about God.
2. List what Scripture you can study and meditate on.
3. Know God wants you to be teachable.
4. Stay in His word, be open to His instruction and ready to obey.

Dear Lord, we want to be more open to Your word and accept Your instruction. We know there is still so much we don’t know or understand. We look to You for wisdom and guidance. Help us meditate on Your word allowing it to penetrate into our hearts and minds so we learn from You rather than learning from this world. We put our trust in You to teach us Your will. We pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Psalm 25:4-5 “Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” (NLT)

John 5:19 “Jesus gave them this answer: ‘Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.’” (NIV)

Isaiah 8:20 “Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark.” (NLT)

This month we focus on meditating on God’s word. Practice meditating on God’s word all throughout the day for the next 30 days. Experience and journal the changes God makes in your mind, heart, words and actions. Thank Him for these changes as you draw closer to Him. And remember God is in control!
