Biggest Challenge

Wednesday, April 08, 2020

My biggest challenge in this weight loss adventure is getting my mind right. I come up with a lot of excuses - I will tell myself hurry up and eat all this chocolate so it is gone and then I will start over and not eat chocolate any more. I will wait until Monday and then I will start an exercise program and having a salad for lunch. Oh it won't matter if I just have French fries with my burger.

Now I do understand that I am not going to totally delete these foods from my life but I do need to find a balance. Why can I not just eat 1 piece of chocolate or just 10 fries or just be content with a walk.

Change is difficult and the consensus seems to be that it take an average of 21 days to form a new habit. One search revealed this information "And how long it takes a new habit to form can vary widely depending on the behavior, the person, and the circumstances. In Lally's study, it took anywhere from 18 days to 254 days for people to form a new habit." I know it took me 5 months before I really knew that I had conquered my nasty smoking habit when I finally put them down in 2000. But when I quit cold turkey my mind was right and I knew from the beginning that I would not smoke again.

I need to reawaken that mind set and find that same awareness that this time is going to be different and I will loose weight..

emoticon I've found a soulmate. So many times I've crashed and then eaten everything I had been avoiding. From now on, Moderation is Marvelous! I'm excited to become healthy and fit with you.

I don't know where I read this: Your thoughts are ultimately what control your actions. Control what you think and you'll master what you do.
